Privacy Policy

PowerPoint2Vid (powerpoint2vid.com) is operated by Mal Gordon in Western Australia (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the site and the PowerPoint to video converter, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

  • Account details. Your email address and a password. We store the password only as a salted hash, never in plain text.
  • Your slides and content. If you use Pro, the PowerPoint file you upload, its slides, images and speaker notes, any instructions you type, and the video and captions we produce from them. The Basic converter does the conversion in your browser, and we do not receive your deck.
  • Payment details. Payments are handled by our payment provider, Stripe. We receive your plan, the status of your subscription or credits, and a customer reference. We do not see or store your full card number.
  • Usage and device data. Pages visited, approximate location (city or country level), browser and device type, and the actions you take on the site, collected with analytics cookies and similar technology. We also keep aggregate counts of videos made. These counts do not include your content.
  • Messages. If you email [email protected], we keep the message and our reply.
  • Sign-in cookie. A cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days.

How we use it

  • To provide the converter: to create your account, process your deck, make your video and deliver it to you.
  • To take payment, manage subscriptions and credits, and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • To answer your questions and send service messages, such as receipts and changes to these terms.
  • To understand how the site is used and to improve it.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use the content of your decks to train our own models or to advertise to you.

Who we share it with

We use service providers to run PowerPoint2Vid. They handle information only to provide their service to us:

  • Hosting, storage and delivery: Cloudflare.
  • Payments: Stripe.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics.
  • a.i. and voice services (Pro only): third-party providers that read the content of your deck to plan and design your video, and turn the narration script into spoken audio.
  • Email: the provider we use to send account and service messages.

Some of these providers are outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they operate. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others. If the business is sold, personal information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.

How long we keep it

  • Decks and videos: kept only as long as needed to make and deliver your video, then deleted automatically. Download your video when it is ready. If you want something removed sooner, email us.
  • Account details: kept while your account is open. If you ask us to close it, we delete or de-identify your details, except what we must keep for tax, accounting or legal reasons.
  • Analytics data: kept for the period set in our analytics settings.

Cookies and analytics

We use a sign-in cookie, which is needed for your account to work, and Google Analytics cookies to measure how the site is used. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, and Google provides an opt-out add-on for Analytics. Some features, such as signing in, will not work if you block the sign-in cookie.

Keeping information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords and limiting who can access our systems. No online service can promise perfect protection. If a breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time, and we will still send essential service messages. Email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email us and we will investigate and reply in writing. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Children

PowerPoint2Vid is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we will tell account holders by email or on the site.
